Monday Madness

{The Weather}::: Crazy? Yep. That about sums it up! Spring in Minnesota, I tell ya! We are under a 'Winter Weather Warning' starting at 7pm tonight until 7am tomorrow! 6-9 inches of snow expected! And THEN near 60/70 by the end of the week! Crazy, I tell ya! Just crazy!

{My To-Do List}::: Looking back at last week, I actually got most of my to-do list done! :) YAY! Going on 2 weeks of fighting this cold, but I finished our Honeymoon Photo Book and finalized our hospital bag! I'll be posting about that soon too!

Now...on to this week!

  1. Make clothes dividers for Baby Christian's closet to divide his clothes by sizes
  2. Maybe FINALLY finish The 'Before You Were Here' Book!! Baby is going to be here soon so this NEEDS to get finished soon!
  3. Get a good start on our wedding photo book

{What's Cooking?}::: I actually did really well at following my list of cooking options last week! But...now I can't remember what I actually made! Ooops. Well, here is what we are hopefully going to eat this week!

{Weekly Words of Wisdom}::: Has become "Music Monday". Check it out!

Music Monday

After sharing some songs last week, I've decided to start a 'Music Monday' post! Check back every Monday for an inspirational song.

Check out this oldie, but goodie! It was my theme song my senior year of college in 2009.

Robbie Seay Band - Song of Hope

I was really involved in a Christian Organization called 'Intervarsity Christian Fellowship' during college. The semester that I graduated, I was recognized at a Large Group gathering along with all of the other graduating seniors. We all got to pick our favorite worship song to be played during the worship time. This was the song I picked.

Just a few weeks ago, it was my prayer that God would make himself known to me and how he has been present in my life.

I help with the high school youth group at my church called Catalyst. It was during the worship time at Catalyst a few weeks ago that this song was played. It's not exactly one of the 'regulars' and I haven't heard it since!

It was such a great reminder to me that during my time of hopelessness as I was graduating and entering the real world  and my plans weren't playing out as expected, that God was near me and at work. He came down and put the desires of my heart into a plan, but in His timing and it was perfect.

I had always thought that I would graduate and get married and start a family right away. I just wanted to be a wife and a mom. But God had other plans for me. He had some work to do in my and my future hubby before we were ready for each other.

About 2 years after I graduated, I met my future husband. He had moved to Minnesota from New York and I had moved to Minnesota from Wisconsin. We both had gone through a lot of refining and were ready for each other. God had come done and had been with me through all of that...through every season and is with me now.

Such an encouraging thought for me this week as I think about all that is to come for our little family!

I know God is with you this week too! What are you trusting Him for?

Pregnancy Due Date Countdown!

As our estimated due date gets closer and closer...and I get more and more uncomfortable...AND more and more excited...hubby came up with an idea to try to make the time not drag but go faster and faster!

So far it has been working :) He is so great and smart!

When I was 33 weeks pregnant, hubby decided to start surprising me with something special each week to give me small things to look forward to, instead of just one thing far off in the not so distant future.

Every week, on Tuesday when I go up a week in pregnancy, hubby surprises me something!

Here is what I have been surprised with so far:

33 weeks - Beautiful lilies whose smell filled the whole house and a sweet card

34 weeks - Belly Cast kit...and hubby signed me up for a Mommy Photography class called 'Mom's Night Out'

I was only supposed to get the Belly Cast kit this week, but I may have had an emotional breakdown over the idea of making a cast/replica of my giant fat self so hubby felt bad and gave me my next week's surprise early. You can read more about that in an upcoming post on Belly Casting

35 weeks - Dinner at Red Lobster! My favorite restaurant

36 weeks - Guess I'll have to wait to find out tomorrow! :)

So far it really has been making these last few weeks go faster!

Still can't wait to just meet and hold Baby Christian!

35 Week Bumpdate!

35 Weeks, 1 Day

Size of Baby::: Still about the size of a cantaloupe, I guess? These fruit sizes make no sense to me... Still about 19 to 22 inches long. He is about done growing lengthwise so he will stay in this range until delivery day. Also weighs about 6 pounds now. He should continue to gain about a half a pound per week.

Symptoms:::
  • Nightly trips to the potty at least twice a night...
  • Some "oops" moments when I sneeze and pee my pants...yep. That's fun.
  • Constant fatigue
  • Constant movement. All day long!!
  • Still swelling. My fingers look like sausages.
  • Braxton hicks
  • Some mild cramping/contractions? or maybe just more braxton hicks
Cravings::: Chocolate. Especially in ice cream...like Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie Ice Cream. YUM! Note to self: Edy's Fudge Brownie Ice Cream does NOT taste like Ben and Jerry's...take the splurge!

Something I Miss::: Everything. Feeling attractive. Red wine.

Stretch Marks::: Natta!

Wedding Ring::: Off.

Belly Button::: Poking out a little.

Milestones:::
  • Baby has about reached his maximum height for in utero
  • Baby's weight is now at about 15% body fat and will continue to grow to about 30%
  • If baby were to be born now, he would probably do quite well, with little to no long-term health issues
  • Baby's kidneys are completely developed and his liver is functional and capable of processing waste products
  • Nearly all of baby's major organs should be nearly complete
  • My uterus now reaches up to my rib cage
  • Baby Christian really enjoys calm, relaxing music like Baby Beethoven!

Can't forget all the cute pictures with Baxter lately too! :)

Bax: "Hey, mom...what's up with this belly??"

We also were able to celebrate Christian with hubby's team at work yesterday. Check out this fun, super cute diaper cake they made for us! Christian now owns his very first "Best Buy" item! See the sippy cup?

Looking Forward To::: Snuggling Christian! And introducing him to our family and friends! Especially at his baptism in June! I help with the baptisms at church which are held every other month and the April baptisms are done...bring on June!

1 Month, 5 Days
OR...
5 Weeks
OR...
35 Days!!!!
Until Christian is due!
(maybe more, maybe less before he is HERE!)

Monday Madness

{The Weather}::: Sucks. Need I say more? It is currently only 34 degrees but feels like only 27 degrees!! On the 15th of APRIL! I'm pretty sure the saying "April Showers, Brings May Flowers" was not referring to all of the SNOW showers we have been getting! :( It is supposed to be in the 40s tomorrow, but only the 30s with rain/snow the rest of the week. Boo to that. I'm just hoping the snow is all melted by April 27th because we have our maternity pics that day and were hoping for some good "Spring" shots then!

{My To-Do List}:::

  1. Kick this cold! And get some energy back. That is first and foremost this week. So with that said, I'll probably be spending a lot of time on the couch doing relaxing things, like blogging, catching up on my magazines which hubby said I have 3 days to read before they get tossed, and working on our honeymoon photo book
  2. Honeymoon Photo book
  3. It would be great to finally finish our "Before You Were Here" Book too
  4. Double check to make sure our hospital bag is all ready to go
{What's Cooking?}::: Tonight for dinner I think we will be having grilled chicken salads...that's as far as I'm planning any more. Probably having stirfry sometime this week too. I need to find energy to cook real food again.

{Weekly Goals}:::
  • Relax and kick this cold!
{Weekly Words of Wisdom}::: Check out the songs I shared in my Burning Lights Tour post :)

Hope you have a healthy and happy week!

Chris Tomlin + Kari Jobe Concert Burning Lights Tour

For hubby and I, our weekend was busy and yet filled with resting as we are both fighting colds...me more than him!

Last night, we were able to power through and find the energy to make it to the Chris Tomlin Burning Lights Tour Concert at the Target Center in Minneapolis. While we didn't quite have the energy to join in on any of the dancing, it was a really fun concert and a somewhat "new experience"....having Christian "with" us!

I haven't been able to figure out if there is any way to tell what music your baby likes in your womb, but Christian always squirms and kicks up a storm to more mellow and relaxing music. Play him some fast and rocky music and he goes still.

With Kari Jobe opening for Chris Tomlin, she definitely played more of the 'mellow' songs, but baby was still. But by the time Chris Tomlin was singing his 6th song, 'Indescribable', baby was kicking and squirming away! Even as I'm playing the song now getting ready to upload a video from youtube for this post, he is just a kickin'!

And I had to love when he started kickin' up a storm again during mommy's favorite song, 'Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies)'.

It was such a fun thing to experience! Especially with hubby. I can't wait for Christian to be here and to teach him about worshipping God and who Jesus is as his personal savior.

It was definitely a spirit filled night and I was reminded of many great truths, especially through Kari Jobe's music. Check out this last song. Such a great reminder of who God is for us. All of her songs seem to bring forth this message both of who God is and who we are in Him.
'You are for Me'

Be blessed friends!
