New Mama Questions - 3rd Edition

Hospital Bag

My hospital bag is pretty much packed, but I have a few questions before I'm confident that it is finalized... So this week my questions are all about the hospital bag.

  1. What do you wish you wouldn't have packed?
  2. What was the best thing (most used) you packed?
  3. Did you get dressed in your own clothes after you delivered or did you wear the hospital gown? If you wore your own clothes, did you wear pants or pack a gown of your own?
I can't decide if I want to wear the hospital gown while having visitors but I can't seem to find a reasonably priced nursing gown that is in a good color (so it won't be too stained or anything afterward). I was told I can wear pants but I will probably be slipping them off quite often so the nurses can check my bottom....Don't know what to do!

Thanks Mamas!

1.Nothing
2. Everything I packed for use in the shower. The BEST shower ever...getting clean after having a baby! Lol. With the complications I had with Aethan, I was not allowed out of bed at all. I was so thankful I had books, movies, crossword puzzles, etc. becuase I could not move. (Obviously it reached a certain point where those things did not matter, but for a good 6-7 hours it was great to have.)

3. I brought my own gown, and a robe. That way, I had a robe on when company came, but the convenience of a gown for nursing, doctor examinations, etc.
It is getting close! Yay! Thinking of ya! :)

I second the suggestion for your own gowns and robe, you will not want to put on pants - too constricting (in my opinion). The hospital will most likely have pads and disposable undies for you, but you will need these. Chap-stick is a must, an ipod, your phone & camera charger! Your own pillow! Obviously baby items, like going home outfit etc. They will ask you how far you live from the hospital and baby boy will sit in the car seat for that length of time while they monitor to see if he is stressed at all. Ahh I'm remembering and taking mental note to remind myself for our big visit in July!
